We set chain tension with a deflection gauge, not by feel, and we weld a reinforcement gusset on the chain anchor when the gate is over eighteen feet. That gusset is one of those details you will not find in a BFT install manual, but it is the difference between a gate that runs quietly for a decade and one that clatters from month one.
- Thalia and Libro control board failures from ant intrusion. Sherman Oaks has ants. They get into sealed enclosures and short circuit boards. BFT boards are not any more vulnerable than other brands, but we have seen enough dead Thalia panels with a line of ants across the relays to take it seriously. During installation we replace those cams with current OEM parts and set mechanical stops as a backup so the operator never has to rely on a limit switch alone. The motor should stop because the gate physically stops, not because a plastic cam told it to.
